The British National Museum is always talked about as a must-see sighting in London and is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the entire UK. Roughly about two weeks ago, I went to see this place for myself to see whether if it was truly a good museum.
At first, I visited the Egyptian’s and their works. I saw The Rosetta Stone and all the writing on it. Although I couldn’t read it, the hieroglyphs were fascinating to look at and raises a question: How did they attach meanings to all these drawings? Then I saw all their sculptures, however what caught my interest the most was the caskets and the mummies. There weren’t only humans preserved, there was even a cat in it’s own casket. Some of these carcasses were preserved so well it was very intriguing. I was especially baffled at one of the bodies which had hair on it, one of the first things to decompose.
Then, I took a tour around the Balkan’s side of the museum. It started off with Greece and their sculptures which I’ve always seen as pretty. Then I saw all the works dating way back from the Ottoman Empire. It was honestly a very nice sight seeing some of my culture being imported to here as well for all tourists and UK citizens to see alike.
To sum it up, I believe that The British National Museum is definitely a great place to visit alone or with your family as it has many great sights to see. Who knows? Maybe you could see something from your country as well!
