A Staffie who was dumped on Valentine’s Day has finally found his perfect match.

Nine-year-old Billy was brought in to RSPCA Finsbury Park Hospital on February 14 last year after being abandoned in Camden.

The Staffordshire bull terrier had an upset stomach, required dental work and needs ongoing pain medication for his mobility.

During his time with RSPCA, Billy played a starring role in the charity’s fundraising campaign with Omaze, posing with actress Joanna Page to market a house draw in Somerset, which raised £3.5 million.

And a year on from being abandoned, Billy has finally found a new home in Harpenden, after being adopted by Sue and Bill Greenwood.

Sue said: “I don’t know what happened to him before or why someone would abandon him but he’s just been perfect. He’s a gentle, elderly man and is friendly to everyone.

“It’s funny having both a Bill and a Billy in the house - if I call my husband or the dog they might both answer! They also both have arthritis too so they’re definitely a pair!”

Before being adopted by the couple, Billy spent time at RSPCA Southbridge animal centre.

Manager Anna White said: “Billy is a very lucky dog, he has a fantastic home and Sue and Bill are very lucky adopters because they have a fantastic dog.

“The term perfect match is often used - in this case it could not be more true!”
