Southeastern Rail has confirmed that for one date in May, “most routes and stations will be closed” due to strike action taking place.

For this reason, people should only travel “if it is absolutely necessary” on Tuesday, May 7, when strike action by ASLEF will impact the Southeastern Rail network.

A very limited service will run on this day as a result.

For the trains that are running, Southeastern has warned that there could be queues and the trains could be “extremely busy”.

Trains on this day will also be starting later and finishing earlier.

Southeastern tweeted: “On Tuesday, May 7 strike action by ASELF is taking place across our network.

“We’re sorry but most of our routes and stations will be closed, so please only travel if it is absolutely necessary.”

Passengers are told to visit the Southeastern website for refunds and ticketing information.

A statement on the Southeastern Railway website says: “There could be queues at stations and the trains that are running may be extremely busy.

“They will also be starting later and finishing earlier.

“Online journey planners are being updated and we will publish the amended timetables here shortly.”

ASLEF has also announced an overtime ban from Monday, May 6 through to Saturday, May 11.

However, Southeastern Rail expects its full service to run on these dates, except for Tuesday, May 7.
