The mother of a young man who was murdered as he went out to buy her orange juice has been left paralysed and bedbound.

Jasna Badzak lost her only child Sven when he was stabbed to death outside a bagel shop in Willesden Lane, Kilburn, in February 2021.

Sven, 22, an aspiring lawyer, was attacked a group of six youths who apparently believed he was a member of a rival gang.

Three have been convicted over his killing but three still remain at large.

Jasna, who lives in Maida Vale, said she has been battling with the Metropolitan Police to bring the others involved to justice.

She was put in a medical coma for ten weeks from July 29 to October 30, 2022 and says the stress from the case left her suffering full body paralysis and digestive disorders.

Jasna, a qualified doctor and former Conservative Party activist, claims she urgently needs stomach surgery and is waiting for an ultrasound but the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust is "not helping" her.

She said: "They released me saying I'm a case that's not going to recover. Since then I haven't had any support other than from my wonderful GP."

Jasna has carers, provided by Westminster Council, who she said are feeding her and looking after her.

"It's horrible," she added. "I'm spending every minute of every day in bed. I can't get up, I can't do anything."

Jasna has now launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to pay privately for her operation.

She added: "I spent everything I had fighting for Sven. I'm so ashamed to be in a position like this, Sven would be ashamed but I'm fighting, really fighting, I want to get justice for him before I die.

"But right now I can't stand on my own two feet, I don't have any other option."

A spokesperson for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust would not confirm whether it had stopped treating Ms Badzak.

They said: "We are committed to providing exceptional care and support for patients we see.

"While we cannot disclosure any patient information or individual care plan, we sympathise greatly with Ms Badzak during this difficult time.”
