Wembley Park has been closed and evacuated due to reports of a suspicious package.

The incident in Engineers Way was first reported to police at around 11am today (April 22).

Brent Council confirmed on X (formally known as Twitter) that the area was closed due to a suspicious package at Wembley Arena.

Multiple police cordons were put in place near Brent Civic Centre and Wembley Arena as the incident was dealt with.

Our reporter Joseph Reaidi, who is at the scene, confirmed multiple shops near Wembley Arena including the White Horse, Five Guys, and Estadio Lounge were closed.

These shops have since reopened, according to our reporter.

A civic centre worker, who wishes to be kept anonymous, told the Brent and Kilburn Times: “Because it was a suspect package we sent all staff home, at the moment we do not have enough staff to let people in.

”I would advise if it’s not urgent to go home and come back tomorrow.

”We are trying to bring back our staff.”

All police cordons have since been lifted, but Brent and Civic Centre remains closed.

In an update from Brent Council on X (@Brent_Council) confirmed that the incident has been resolved and Wembley Library will reopen at 3pm.

We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for further information.
