A mosque in Forest Gate has been damaged in a hate crime. 

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called with reports of criminal damage at the Quwwat ul Islam Masjid in Upton Lane at 8.20am on April 16. 

At the scene, they discovered a window had been damaged. 

A spokesperson for the Met confirmed that the incident has been recorded as a hate crime and an investigation is underway.

There have been no arrests in connection with the damage, and police are continuing with their enquiries.
