Havering pubs missed out on recognition at a national awards so we asked readers to nominate their favourite.

Many boozers across Havering were mentioned, including The Crown Inn, Hornchurch, and The Wheatsheaf in Romford.

We asked readers on Facebook to choose their favourite pub after the National Pub and Bar Awards 2024 named their winners on April 8, as listed in Time Out.

None were chosen in Havering so we opted to find out the places people love in the area. 

The winner and other pubs with the most mentions and likes are listed below.

The Crown Inn (Roneo Corner) in Hornchurch Road, Hornchurch

The Crown Inn, Hornchurch, received 12 mentions and likes from readers to our Facebook post: “Name the best pub in Havering”.

It has live music with bands performing three nights a week, according to the pub’s website.

The Hornchurch pub is typically open from 12pm until 11am daily.

Upminster Taproom in Sunnyside Gardens

Upminster Taproom received 20 mentions and likes.

The micropub has been under new ownership since 2022 and includes outdoor seating.

They also offer cocktail making classes and the pub has received more than 79 per cent five-star ratings on reviewing website TripAdvisor.

The Orange Tree on Orange Tree Hill in Havering-atte-Bower

The Orange Tree received five mentions and likes from readers.

It is a traditional pub with a garden, is dog-friendly and runs weekly quizzes. It is open from 12pm to 11pm Sunday to Thursday, open an hour later on Friday or Saturday.

The Mawney Arms in Mawney Road in Romford

Romford's The Mawney Arms received six mentions and likes online.

The pub, run by chain Ember Inns, has free car parking on its site and is also close to Dagenham and Brentwood.

It is typically open from 12pm until 11pm, operating an hour longer on Fridays and Saturdays.

Upminster Taproom

If you have not worked it out already for yourself, Upminster Taproom garnered the most mentions and likes.

Others nominated included The Aspen Tree and The Wheatsheaf, both in Romford.
