A 24/7 shop is preparing to reopen after its interior was destroyed in a fire.

Wembley Park Food Center in Bridge Road, Wembley Park, was cordoned off after a fire ripped through the supermarket on the afternoon of February 27.

The road was closed and London Ambulance Service treated four people at the scene before rushing them to hospital.

The cause of the blaze was thought to be a heater being placed too close to “combustible items”.

Since the blaze, the shop has remained closed with plastic sheets around the entrance and windows.

But in the last few days work has started to repair the interior of the shop.

A sign now placed outside the shop reads: “We are closed for refurbishment until April 20. This shop will reopen on April 20. Thank you for your patience.”

The shop is normally open 24 hours each day of the week, offering locals and people leaving Wembley Park station snacks and goods.

Around 25 firefighters responded to the incident, which took place just before 4pm. The brigade received 15 emergency calls.

Footage from the scene appeared to show one person attempting to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher before fire crews arrived.

Smoke could be seen pouring from a shop entrance, and a large crowd appeared to have gathered.
