A block of flats has been cordoned off after a woman was found dead in a car in an alleyway.

Police were called to concerns for a woman’s welfare at Whiston Road today (April 6) at 6.42am and found a woman, in her 20s, found unresponsive inside the car in an alleyway.

Officers forced entry into the car and gave her CPR before the London Ambulance Service arrived.

But despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Metropolitan Police says that a post-mortem examination will be held as soon as possible.

While enquiries are in the early stages, police believe the deceased and the man arrested were known to each other.

A crime scene remains in place, with forensics spotted in the area.
