Charges for wedding packages at a council-owned venue in Hornchurch have been hiked.

Havering Council approved a new rate card for wedding celebrations in the East Room, West Room or Orangery of Langtons House during a meeting on March 27.

The charges, which came into effect from April 1, differ for ceremonies taking place in “high season” and “low season” as given below:

Silver Friday celebration - Low season - up from £1,800 to £2,000

Silver Friday celebration - High season - up from £2,315 to £2,500

Gold Sunday celebration - Low season - up from £2,575 to £2,700

Gold Sunday celebration - High season - up from £3,300 to £3,500

The Silver Friday charges, the council explained, includes the cost of officiating the marriage or civil partnership with the registrars in the East or West room at 4pm with up to 50 people, and using the hall afterwards for a maximum of 100 people.

The Gold Sunday package also lets people use the Parkes Suite during the day and the hall in the evening.

The revision was made after the council realised that several small sections of the correct fees and charges were “inadvertently omitted” from the papers when the budget was passed on February 28.

These have since been rectified and were approved during the March 27 meeting.
