A kitchen was destroyed and three women were taken to hospital when a fire broke out above a pub.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the blaze at the Roebuck pub, which has flats above it, in Pond Street, Hampstead, at 10.38pm on March 30.

The London Fire Brigade says three women left the building before crews arrived. They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Firefighters used a 32-metre turntable ladder as an observation tower during the blaze.

The incident was over for firefighters at 12.06am.

A shared kitchen serving five flats on the second floor was destroyed.

Firefighters from West Hampstead and Kentish Town fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
