Phantom Peak is a fully immersive experience where mystery lurks around every corner, and nothing is as it seems - think of it as part escape room, part immersive theatre, part real-life videogame.

As you navigate this steampunk western town, you're greeted by the weird fascination the locals have with platypuses, and suddenly, you're plunged into the heart of the story.

I loved attending this unusual experience based in Canary Wharf, but it is hard to describe or to explain the concept - you tread the streets of the town, guided through personal quests on your mobile phone.

The town's rich history and mysteries start to unfold as you interact with the actors, each weaving their own unique backstories.

The quests range from solving puzzles in the area, watching videos to find secret codes or interacting with characters to get hints and tips on where to go next.

The tasks were challenging enough to engage your brain but never frustrating and seeing others embarking on their own quests is a delight.

There is a friendly sense of rivalry and clearly a strong community that continues returning to Phantom Peak, sometimes dressing the part or trading little badges with people they meet.

At the end of each quest, you're rewarded with a small card, a keepsake to remember the unique adventure.

There are 10 quests each season, with an additional secret quest if you complete them all, a regular told me.

The best part of this experience was its unexpected turns - for instance, my friend was tasked with delivering a letter from one actor to another and was completely separate to the quests we were following on our phone.

Phantom Peak has a distinctive appeal - its humour and casual character make it ideal for children and adults alike.

Apart from the quests, Phantom Peak hosts a preview show explaining the concept and a closing show that brings the story of the season to a humorous climax.

Mayor Pocket is an absolutely brilliant character to interact with and make a fitting leader of Phantom Peak – but you will find that you will grow to have your own favourite characters after attending and I felt myself always rooting for Pocket, despite his questionable morals.

This Is Local London:

With countless photo opportunities and chances to engage with the townsfolk - it's truly an immersive experience and Phantom Peak really does feel alive with its charm and bizarre storyline.

The town has grown tremendously since its it was first created in 2022 and this spring, Phantom Peak introduced new equipment and fresh areas to explore.

Currently, the spring theme revolves around JONACO's Festival of Innovation, opening up opportunities for townsfolk to showcase their odd and slightly disastrous creations.

The highlight of the day was by far was the platypus catching competition, involving hooking platypuses in a pond with fishing rods.

The competitive spirit combined with hilarious antics made it a memorable event.

With intriguing quests, retro robots, and TV screens augmenting the ambience, you never feel like stepping out of the atmosphere even while visiting the gift shop.

I highly recommend grabbing a luxury cocktail which are delicious and truly something extraordinary to look at. We also refuelled midway through our four-hour session with some tasty burgers as we found ourselves starving from all the walking we were doing.

The town's intense narratives, engaging quests, and captivating aura leave you longing for more, making every visit to Phantom Peak an unmatchable experience.

In all honestly I leave Phantom Peak frustrated that I don’t know all the answers to the questions that I have about the town and its developing plot – but I know it never will have an end and there is always going to more to find out.

Perfect for the curious and the adventurous, it's an experience I wholeheartedly recommend – captivating, hilarious, and utterly unique in every possible way.
