Southeastern has confirmed that its services will be “severely impacted” on Monday as ASLEF workers prepare to go on strike.

On April 8, ASLEF workers are set to take industrial action affecting several train operators including Southern, Thameslink and London Underground services.

As a result, Southeastern has confirmed that most of its routes and stations will be closed on Monday with no replacement bus services set to run on the day.

The operator has advised its customers “not to travel” on Monday, with a limited number of services running on the day, with long queues and major disruption expected.

Travel in London is expected to be difficult for commuters with London Underground services also affected by the strike.

Southeastern has advised that a limited number of services will run on the day.

These are the services currently expected to run on Monday (April 8):

  • Dartford to London services via Bexleyheath
  • Dartford to London services via Sidcup
  • Highspeed services between Ashford International and London St Pancras International
  • Services between Orpington and Charing Cross

Southeastern has advised that all other lines will be closed on the day, with trains that are running expected to be busy with long queues anticipated.

Services are also expected to start later and finish earlier than usual.

Scott Brightwell, Southeastern’s Operations & Safety Director, said: “We are only able to run an extremely limited service during this ASLEF strike action and our advice to customers is do not travel.

“There is likely to be long queues at the small number of stations that are open, which will lead to extended journey times for those who are travelling. In addition, services that are running will start later in the morning and finish much earlier in the evening.

“There is also strike action taking place across other operators, and on London Underground, so anyone who absolutely must travel should check their entire journey well in advance.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience that this strike action will cause but we will be running a full service on all other days.”

ASLEF also announced an overtime ban from Thursday, April 4 to Saturday, April 6, and from Monday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 9.

However, Southeastern has advised that a full service is expected to run on all other strike days, with Monday being the only day where disruption is expected.
