With it being Easter weekend, many Londoners will have enjoyed a plate of fish and chips to celebrate Good Friday.

There are plenty of amazing chippies across south east London so it can be difficult to choose just one favourite.

We asked News Shopper readers which fish and chip shop is their favourite for anyone searching for a favourite local chippy.

An overwhelmingly popular choice was Seabream in Sidcup.

Sarah Cook said that even though there is always a queue the food is “quality” and that it is a “lovely, family-run business”.

Tracey Green seconded Seabream “without a doubt”.

Gary Wil said: “Seabream Fish Bar in Sidcup.

“The large cod or haddock can’t be beaten.”

Nicky Sturt added: “Seabream Fish Bar, Sidcup without a doubt!

“The food tastes lovely, cooked fresh, large portions and such amazing staff.”

Another loved chippy in south east London proved to be Hooked in Westmount, which was voted for by both Sam Walsh and Beccy Jones.

Bev Reilly went for Marabou on Bellegrove Road in Welling, which prides itself in offering “delicious and authentic fish and chips”.

Blue Lagoon in Swingate Lane was voted for by Anne Brown.

This chippy is run by Italian-born entrepreneur Ersilio Verese and his childhood sweetheart Edda, the pair opening the spot back in 1975.

Kevin Spencer shouted out his favourite fish and chip shop based in Dartford, J.Coxedge  based on Hedge Place Road.

Of course, the list would not be complete without The Golden Chippy in Greenwich which was recommended by Sue Verness.

This chippy has recently faced some problems after the council ordered it to remove a popular sign of a fish holding a union jack, but the restaurant continues to thrive and be a favourite across London.

Kelly Mew claims that Brockley’s Rock serves “the best fish and chips in south east London”, an opinion seconded by Rachel Robson.

Mr Chippy was also a favourite for south east Londoners, both Lorraine Brown and John Lee Dellar named it as their top eatery.
