On the 7th of March, Lady Eleanor Holles School hosted its 14th Annual Higher Education Fair, welcoming year 12 students from LEH and two additional schools. The fair introduced students to 24 universities and the opportunity to speak to representatives for American and Canadian universities. The event was hosted in the Assembly Hall and the arrangement of the room allowed students to walk freely through the hall and approach their university of interest. Each university was stationed at a table with banners and booklets that were packed with beneficial information. The nature of the event allowed students to ask informal and specific questions to the representatives, who all responded with friendliness and insight. Commonly asked questions included inquiries about the requirements, campus, accommodation and societies.

After the main event, there were separate talks that ran afterwards, for students with strong interests in certain academic areas. These talks included the ‘Get into Medicine Talk with Brighton and Sussex Medical School’, the ‘Practical Art History Workshop and Q&A with the Courtauld Institute’ and ‘A Q&A about training at a specialist drama school with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’. These additional talks gave students the opportunity to delve further into their interests and ask questions personally to the delegates.

The ‘Practical Art History Workshop’, gave students an insight into the world of Art History beyond A-Level and informed the students of the benefits of a degree in Art History. The talk highlighted the significance of the subject and its strong link to society, culture and people. The talk additionally addressed the valuable transferable skills (such as analysis and communication), that came with the degree. These talks proved to be of great success for students who hold interests for pathways that are not as well known as others.
