Have you ever been on a walk around the Watford training ground in London Colney, St Albans?

You might think of the Watford training ground and immediately think of football, but the amazing history and nature in the surrounding fields of the training ground is fascinating to walk through.

With a public footpath running through forests, fields and even meadows with horses, the walk can easily be adapted and adjusted for everyone. Overlooking the fields you can see the De Havilland Aircraft Museum, and the outdoor aircraft displayed in the museum's exterior can be seen throughout the walk, an interesting addition to the beautiful walk.

The walk never fails to be interesting, with fascinating features and history shown in every crevice, with old planes seen in the corners of one of its fields, a beautiful view of St Albans near the end of the walk, and normally the sight of people playing football in the first field.

The training ground also has an interesting history, as it was originally owned by Arsenal F.C. until 1999, and has now been taken over by Watford F.C. They now use this space as their training ground and academy for their football club. Arsenal has its training ground next door now, and it's heavily protected to stop autograph hunters.

With an area of around 83,000 m², the centre is home to four full-size training pitches, 1 full-size astro turf pitch, as well as many other football pitches and facilities that many use daily.

With so much interesting history, in and outside the Watford training ground, why not go on a walk around here? Whether you’re a football fan, a nature enthusiast, or just someone looking for a nice walk to go on, this walk has something for you!
