Two teenage boys who are not even of driving age have been arrested following the alleged theft of a vehicle in Bluewater.

Police on patrol saw the vehicle which they suspected stolen on Hermitage Lane in Maidstone at around 10.20pm on March 26.

When officers asked it to stop, the driver did not pull over.

A short chase led to the suspected stolen vehicle crashing with a patrol car, before it came to a stop on Red Hill, Wateringbury.

A search of the car found tools and suspected stolen number plates.

Two boys, aged 16 and 15 both from the Maidstone area, were arrested on suspicion of offences including theft of a motor vehicle.

Both are now until July 15 pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Two teenagers have been arrested following the alleged theft of a vehicle from Bluewater.

“Police patrols spotted the suspected stolen vehicle driving on Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, at around 10.20pm on Tuesday 26 March 2024. When officers requested it to stop, the driver failed to do so.

“During the short pursuit the vehicle collided with a patrol car, before coming to a stop on Red Hill, Wateringbury.

“A subsequent search led to the seizure of tools and suspected stolen number plates.

“Two boys, aged 16 and 15 both from the Maidstone area, were arrested on suspicion of offences including theft of a motor vehicle.

“Both have since been bailed until 15 July, pending further enquiries.”
