With Easter just around the corner, Brent and Harrow residents should be aware of changes to their bin collections over the holiday period.

Easter Sunday will fall on March 31 this year, more than a week earlier than in 2023.

The Easter bank holidays, scheduled on Good Friday, March 29 and Easter Monday, April 1, will mean changes to bin collections throughout the boroughs.

Local authorities have advised residents to check their bin collection days to ensure their rubbish gets taken away. Listed below are the changes to the bin collection schedule made by Brent Council and Harrow Council this Easter.

Brent

General waste kept inside the grey bin will still be collected on the bank holidays. So, if your normal collection day is Friday, then it will still be collected on Good Friday. However, the blue-lidded recycling bin, the blue sack, and the small caddy waste collection will take place one day after the normal collection date.

Therefore, normal Friday collections (March 29) will be on Saturday (March 30), Monday collections (April 1) will be on Tuesday (April 2), Tuesday’s (April 2) on Wednesday (April 3), Wednesday’s (April 3) on Thursday (April 4), Thursday’s (April 4) on Friday (April 5), and Friday’s (April 5) on Saturday (April 6).

The council has yet to confirm whether the recycling centre in Abbey Road will be open on the bank holidays but the Civic Centre will be closed to the public.

Harrow Council has confirmed that there will be no bin collections of any kind on Good Friday (March 29) or Easter Monday (April 1). Residents have been advised to leave their bins out the day after their typical collection day.

For those collections scheduled on Friday (March 29), households should put the bins out on Saturday (March 30) and so on.

If your collection date is Monday (April 1) bins should be left out on Tuesday (April 2), if Tuesday (April 2) then leave out for Wednesday (April 3), Wednesday’s (April 3) on Thursday (April 4), Thursday’s (April 4) on Friday (April 5), and Friday (April 5) on Saturday (April 6).

Residents can enter their postcode on the council website to find out exactly when the bins for their road will be collected.
