A man has been bailed after riot police descended on a residential street and arrested him.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed today (March 26) that the man, arrested in Elm Park on suspicion of obstruction of a bailiff on March 19, has been bailed.

There had been a major police presence in Rosewood Avenue and Elm Park that day, including swathes of riot police.

This followed an incident at an address in Rosewood Avenue on the morning of March 19. Police later confirmed at 4.54pm on X, formerly Twitter, that a man had been arrested.

Police did not say why there had been such a large response, but stated that the incident was sensitive in nature.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London Fire Brigade had also attended to support the police operation.

A LAS spokesperson had said the situation was complex and sensitive that day.

Fire engines from Hornchurch and Dagenham were also sent to the scene.
