DANCING divas wowed the crowds with a two-hour extravaganza of movement and music.

Pupils from the Kerry Goodyear School of Dance performed jazz, tap, ballet and street dance routines to classic musical theatre and pop songs over two days at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford on March 16 and 17.

A medley of numbers from the musical Matilda allowed the youngsters to showcase their acting skills, and there were also vocal performances from students Zach Armstrong, who sang Beautiful City from Godspell, and twins Emme and Eden Patrick, with a rendition of Alicia Keys’ Falling.

The Loughton-based school runs classes for pupils aged three to 18 in a variety of dance styles as well as singing, drama and musical theatre.

School principal Kerry Goodyear said: “I’d like to extend my congratulations to each and every one of my pupils. Dedication, passion and talent were on full display.

“I’m immensely proud of all the children and know they will cherish the memories created last weekend.”

Audience member Sarah Linney said: “I came purely to see my friend’s young daughter perform, but I ended up loving the entire show from start to finish. The standard was amazingly high.

“Some of the older performers wouldn’t have been out of place in a professional production and they obviously have an incredible future ahead of them.

“What I loved though was that everyone just seemed to be enjoying themselves so much. I actually think that’s even more important than how technically good they were.
