A seven-mile cycle route in south London, passing through one of the “best neighbourhoods” to live, has been hailed as one of the best in London for spring.

According to cycling expert Swapfiets, the route running from Balham to Telegraph Hill has been ranked as one of London’s top five routes alongside others including Primrose Hill and Hyde Park.

The route was named on account of its “Sunday views” and has been rated as a medium-to-hard cycle with moderate hills.

The route begins at Balham, with cyclists advised to begin with lunch at Milk in Balham, including a special mention for their hash browns, before beginning the cycle through Dulwich and its “stunning parks.”

East Dulwich is also known for its independent shops, restaurants and businesses, and was named as one of the “best neighbourhoods” by Muddy Stilettos last year.

After Dulwich, cyclists will then venture into Peckham, with a stop in Copeland Park for a spot of deer spotting recommended.

The route also passes by the popular Skehan’s pub in Nunhead, distinctive for its Victorian exterior covered with plants.

The pub was mentioned as a good pit stop for a pint before finishing the last leg of the journey at Telegraph Hill.

For anyone hungry at this point, pizza restaurant D4100 was mentioned as a great place to stop off for some pizza to enjoy in Upper Park with views of the city, along with a market in situ on Saturday mornings selling a range of fresh produce.

According to data from Transport for London, more than 1.26 million daily cycle journeys now take place across the capital since 2019, with a 20 percent increase in daily cycles.
