A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed in Hither Green.
Police forced entry to a house on Manor Park at around 11.15pm on Wednesday (March 20) after they received reports of a stabbing.
Officers found a 31-year-old woman with injuries and she died at the scene a short time later.
A 24-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of murder at another address nearby.
He remains in custody at a south London police station.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know people will be shocked by this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation."
A crime scene remains in place.
Chief Superintendent Louise Sargent, responsible for local policing in Lewisham, said: "Tragically overnight a woman has been killed and we do not underestimate the impact this has on the local community and those who knew the victim.
"All of our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends as we do everything we can to support detectives as they go about their enquiries.
