A thug who was part of a gang that murdered an innocent man with knives and a shotgun has been jailed for life.

Russell Jordan Jones was out with friends in South Street, Enfield, in the early hours of March 17, 2018, when a group of men out hunting for opposing gang members shot him once and stabbed him 12 times.

Despite paramedics' efforts, Russell, 23, died at the scene.

The group – wearing dark clothing and masks – also attacked one of his friends, leaving him with a knife wound.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 25 years on June 30, 2023.

Speaking after Gordon's conviction last week, Detective Sergeant Joanne Donoghue, from the Met's Specialist Crime North Homicide Team, said: "On a freezing cold night in March 2018, Kyle Gordon and others armed themselves with a sawn-off shotgun and knives before setting out in search of opposing gang members.

"The group they chose were not in a gang, they were simply a group of young men chatting outside a shop.

"The wickedness and ferocity of the attack, which was captured on CCTV, shocked even the most seasoned of homicide detectives.”
