A popular pub in Erith has issued a statement after a man was stabbed near its premises.

The incident happened near the Duchess of Kent pub in Sussex Road at 9.55pm on March 16.

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and a man in his 30s was found injured.

He was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening but possibly life-changing.

The Duchess of Kent confirmed on its Facebook page yesterday (March 17) that the injured man entered its pub and the door being open may have reduced the “potential severity” of the incident.

It thanked those who helped and added neither the pub nor its customers were involved in the incident.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.
