Plans have been submitted to transform a fenced-off area of green space into new flats in Wanstead. 

The plans, submitted by Caerus Developments Ltd, revolve around overgrown green space at the Evergreen Field, 28-30 High Street. 

It currently lies inaccessible to the public, cordoned off with a chain link fence.

The proposed site could become home to 24 new self-contained flats if plans to develop a three to four storey block are approved, with options of a one, two or three bed flat. 

Thirty-five per cent of the accommodation would fall under 'affordable' housing. 

The group has recently amended their mix of one and two bed flats, increasing the number of two bed flats from 11 to 17 and decreasing the number of one bed flats from nine to three.

The residential section of Caerus' plans would be contained to the eastern area of the site which in total spans just less than an acre of land.

Also on the cards for the eastern area of the boundary is a potential day nursery for children. 

The nursery would be situated on the ground floor of the block, with allocated buggy storage to the north side of the building. 

It is expected that the nursery will provide opportunity for around 40 full time jobs and a number of part time jobs. 

Plans for the western part of the site would take up just less than half of the entire allocated area and will focus on giving usable and accessible green space back to the community. 

The developer plans to introduce a children's play area, nature trail and pond to the land, with new plants and hedges. 

Disabled parking and allocated space for cycle parking will also feature if given the go-ahead.

The application has been submitted to Redbridge Council where comments can be made on the council website until March 21.
