Butchers of Elm Park owner on new opening and serving community

Butchers of Elm Park, in St Nicholas Avenue, opened its doors on March 9 offering meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables, and bread among other things.

Hasan Korkurt, the owner of the family business, told the Recorder that he decided to launch the shop as there weren’t any butchers nearby and people had to travel to buy fresh meat.

The shop sells fresh meat and poultry (Image: Hasan Korkurt)Having lived in the area for more than one-and-a-half years, he said he runs another off-licence store and bought a new shop unit to turn it into a butchers to help serve the community.

Coming from an advertising background, Hasan added he had been an entrepreneur on and off and always loved running his own venture.

Hasan said they sell everything fresh - whether it is meat, or fruit and veg - and welcomed people to the store saying “We are now here!”
