A major road in central London has been cordoned off by firefighters after a smoke logging incident.

Firefighters have flocked to Kings Road near Sloane Square underground station just before 11am today (March 13).

Crews are working with multi-agency service partners to investigate smoke logging in the basement of a five-storey mixed-use building.

Around 50 people have been evacuated from the building and a 25-metre cordon is in place as a precaution.

Road closures are in place and people are being urged by crews to avoid the area as the incident is dealt with.

Firefighters from Kensington, Soho, Chelsea and surrounding fire stations remain at the scene.

We have contacted Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service for further information.
