A meeting where a developer's bid to build homes on tennis courts will be decided has been postponed.
ROK Enterprise One, a subsidiary of Realia Capital Group, wants to build nine homes on the former Grove Lawn Tennis Club site in the Rookfield Estate in Muswell Hill.
A planning meeting was due to take place today (Wednesday, March 13) but has been pushed back to an unknown date to allow the developer more time to get materials in order.
Members of the Chine and Cascade Residents Association say the courts were designed to be the centrepiece of the estate, created more than 100 years ago as a “village in the town” by the Collins family of builder-architects.
Rok employed Adam Architects, which specialises in classical architecture, to build two terraces of four houses and turn the clubhouse into a bungalow.
But neighbours have warned the new homes will "ruin the character and balance" of the area.
Residents association chair Walter Merricks said: "We are confident and hopeful that the application will be rejected."
