Dozens of bikers took part in an organised convoy from Romford to deliver Easter eggs to deprived children.

They were supporting an appeal by the Ambition, Aspire, Achieve charity and rode up to its Canning Town centre to deliver hundreds of Easter eggs after battling their way through traffic on Saturday (March 9) .

The charity’s chair Christine Bowden praised the bikers’ efforts in the annual Easter appeal, which started eight years ago.

“It is just tremendous what you keep doing,” she told them. “So many young people will be happy because of what you have done.”

Members of east London’s Riders Who Want to Make a Difference and Triumph motorbike-owners’ club, who organise their own Easter egg collections, revved up for a bike run from Romford to the charity’s centre at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park playground to drop off the eggs.

More than 50 bikers and marshals made the trip. A car delivered more eggs before the main convoy arrived.

The kind-hearted bikers also support the charity’s annual Christmas Toy appeal and organise other charity runs supporting children in hospital.

Easter Egg appeal co-ordinator Paula Blake said: “We aim to help at least 2,000 vulnerable children this year, with donated eggs they can enjoy on Easter Sunday. Youngsters in need of our support experience hardship and many challenges each day. We are grateful to the bikers for their help.”

The Ambition Aspire Achieve charity’s mission is to support young people and their communities in Newham with activities and “fully inclusive experiences” and opportunities to flourish. It aims to level the playing field for children from deprived backgrounds so they can create “the future they deserve”.

Wellwishers can also drop off Easter eggs themselves at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park in Bethell Avenue, Canning Town, weekdays from 9am to 4pm.

The charity is appealing to shoppers to add an extra Easter egg to their list to donate, or to supporters to organise a workplace or club collection. People can also donate directly online at justgiving.com/campaign/easter2024 by March 20
