A pub chain has revealed the changes that are being made to a Romford boozer as the venue reopens.

Yates in South Street welcomed back customers today (March 12) after it was shut on March 4 with a closing party.

The site has been taken over by the Craft Union Pub Company and has undergone a “revitalising transformation”, according to a Craft Union spokesperson, that includes a new entertainment schedule and a pool table.

The venue has also changed its hours to open from 10am instead of 11am due to “positive customer demand”.

She said: “My journey has been so much fun and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being a part of pub teams and bringing the local community together in great spaces.

“I’ve worked my way up from bar staff to general manager, and it has always been my dream to run a pub, and Craft Union made that happen”.

Looking ahead, Eliza added that she has plans to enhance the pub’s offerings with community-led events like hosting raffles, student nights, and LGBTQIA+ nights once a month to ensure the venue remains a community hub that is inclusive of all.

She said: “I can’t wait to welcome locals back, it’s an amazing location and a local hub of activity which is now even more welcoming."

The venue has posted on Facebook that a ‘soft launch’ party will be held on March 15 featuring Mr Fresh/DJ General from 9pm until 3am.

Another launch night is taking place on March 23 with DJ Lust UK at the helm.
