This piece is dedicated to the desserts at The Ivy because I don’t think they get enough recognition. And to be honest, they’re all so great that they deserve it.

The Ivy is one of my favourite restaurants, a staple that you know you’ll always get what you want at.

There will always be good food, drinks and atmosphere and there’s such a range of offerings on the menu that you can be craving pretty much anything and it will suit.

My mum came to visit me in London from Leeds for Mother’s Day weekend, so we went to The Ivy in St John’s Wood with my brother too.

My mum is gluten free, and you can always rely on Ivy waiters and waitresses to make sure allergies are catered for correctly, so we knew this was a good option.

There were a range of different menus on offer, including a Mother’s Day specific one, vegan and vegetarian and a la carte.

We went mainly for the a la carte menu, and I fancied a starter from the vegan menu - so it was good to be able to mix and match.

My mum and brother went for the smoked salmon starter, while I had the tossed Asian salad, which is a mix of broccoli, watermelon, sesame and nuts among other ingredients.

It’s bursting with flavour and it’s my go-to starter at the moment, along with the fried zucchini which are something of dreams – my brother and I managed to devour the whole portion embarrassingly quickly!

For mains my brother and I went for fish and chips – an Ivy classic which never disappoints – and my mum had some plain sea bass which the waiters and chef kindly agreed to do for her to suit her fussy palette and allergies.

We all demolished our meals, discussed how delicious they were, and how full we were, but there wasn’t a minute of question on whether we would be having dessert or not – the answer was obviously.

We all ordered something different so we could make the most out of it and all dip into each other’s – and we ended up with frozen berries, white chocolate sauce and yoghurt sorbet, a chocolate bomb and a crème brulee.

That sounds like a threesome of dreams in my opinion, with a bit of chocolate, a bit of cream and vanilla, and a bit of fruit to balance things out.

We were all digging our spoons into each one by one, and we didn’t want to finish.

My absolute favourite is the chocolate bomb, which is just out of this world, and I don’t think it can be beaten anywhere else.

The others do come in a close joint second, and I’m just thankful I got to have a taste of all three.
