An Orpington man has been charged after a violent robbery ended in a kidnapping incident as the victim was forced into a car in Northfleet.
Officers were called to York Road in Northfleet on Monday, March 5, after reports of a man entering a home.
Once the man was inside at around 11.30pm, it was alleged that he threatened the victim and demanded money.
The victim was also reportedly assaulted, and their home was damaged.
The offender then allegedly forced the victim into a car to take them to a nearby cash point, but the driver crashed into a stationary car and fled the scene.
Following the incident officers launched an investigation and on Wednesday, March 6, a man was arrested.
Billy Friend, 43, of Star Lane, Orpington, has been charged with robbery, criminal damage, kidnap, aggravated vehicle taking and injury caused by accident and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 8.
