House prices remain a significant hurdle for first-time buyers looking to make a home in London.

The Co-operative Bank’s research reveals that London is the most expensive city for those seeking to get their foot on the property ladder.

The total average spend for first-time buyers in London is a whopping £547,560.

According to Nationwide, London first-time buyers also spend an average of two-thirds of their income on mortgage payments.

However, there are some cheaper options south of the river, with Bromley being the most affordable borough in the capital.

These south east homes could be ideal for first-time buyers looking for an affordable entry into London’s property market.
