Pupils are back in class and going online after half term following a gift of 10 laptops to a school in Romford from developers and a local housing organisation.

Staff at Parklands Primary at Rise Park have been given the laptops by developers working with L and Q Housing.

“These contributions bridge the digital divide,” L&Q’s Mark Newstead said. “They give children the tools they need for their education for their future. The social value projects we’re seeing has an impact in our communities.”

The laptops are for pupils who need to borrow them for their homework and exam studies, using the school’s online platform.

They were paid for by Durkan developers working with L&Q Housing on upgrading or replacing kitchens, bathrooms, windows and front doors at properties in east London and Essex. The housing organisation has a £3billion “major works” programme over 15 years.
