Blood was seen on a car in a crime scene outside Lewisham Hospital after a man was stabbed. 

A man has been rushed to a major trauma centre after being found with a stab injury outside Lewisham Hospital, leaving one passer-by “shocked”.

Emergency services were called to Farrer House in Deptford Church Street at around 11.47am today (February 27) following reports of a possible stabbing outside the address.

After making enquiries police found a man with a chest injury outside Lewisham Hospital.

He was rushed to a major trauma centre; his condition is currently unknown.

Two males were also arrested on suspicion of affray and were taken into police custody.

Police have launched an investigation, and several crime scenes are currently in place.

One witness described the scenes as “shocking” and “saddening".

They said there were security guards at 'almost every door', a lot police at the scene and "a helicopter circling for ages".

"I was shocked to see such a crime scene, it's really sad."

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.14pm today (February 27) to reports of an incident at Lewisham Hospital. 

“We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first medic arrived on scene in approximately two minutes. 

“We treated a patient at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
