Spectators lauded Kavalam’s “fantastic” performance after the player went beyond 21 points during her victory at Suffolk.

 

N. Kavalam took home a gold medal winning 23 to 21 as her opponent failed to play a late equaliser. 

“She was superb,” said her fellow teammate. “The best action was in the last moments where the scores were so close”.

After fighting hard through a 3 rounds and repeating her heroics in the semi final, the pressure was on for Kavalam after finally making it to the finals, yet entering with the calmness of a professional. 

Early on, she kept her mistakes to a minimum and and utilised her undoubtedly remarkable skills to fire shots towards the back of the court to give us an anticipating match. Her opponent put up a good fight and the thrilling game went down to the wire once it led to the referee having to determine whether the shuttlecock was in bounds. Thankfully, for Kavalam, it was deemed in allowing her to seize a win. 

The moment game was decided, her beloved supporters rushed over to Kavalam to celebrate this triumph and was congratulated by her opponent. 

Kavalam says: 'I'm so grateful for all my friends and family to came to watch, and I hope I didn't disappoint. I look forward to improving my technique and moving towards becoming a better player'. 

There seems to be something there about loved ones in the stands bringing out the best in the athlete.
