A person has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A2 near Dartford last night (Friday).

Officers were called to a multi-vehicle crash involving a black Ford Fiesta, a blue Audi S3 and a blue G HS at 10.40pm last night (February 16).

The incident happened on Watling Street coastbound carriageway between the A296 and Ebbsfleet junctions.

A passenger in the Fiesta was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and a second passenger were also treated for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

Police are searching for the driver of the Audi who was not at the scene when officers arrived.

Motorists are advised that the coastbound carriageway is still closed while work is ongoing to clear the road.

Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating and is appealing for witnesses.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Investigators are seeking witnesses following a serious collision on the A2 near Dartford.

“At around 10.40pm on Friday 16 February 2024 officers were called to a multi-vehicle collision on the Watling Street coastbound carriageway between the A296 and Ebbsfleet junctions.

“Three cars were involved, a black Ford Fiesta, a blue Audi S3 and a blue MG HS.

“A passenger in the Fiesta was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries. The driver and a second passenger were also treated for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver of the Audi who was not at the scene when officers arrived.

“Motorists are advised that the coastbound carriageway remains closed while work is ongoing to clear the road.

“Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is investigating and urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
