In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, Reigate Grammar School hosted a series of exciting events for charity. These included a Valentine’s Day themed Cake Sale and a House Charity Event. Both events aimed to celebrate the build up to Valentine’s Day by supporting local charities and creating a positive atmosphere full of respect and kindness.

The Cake Sale was on Monday 5th February and was supporting Médecins Sans Frontières, an important charity which provides life-saving healthcare for where it is needed most around the world. The cake sale offered a wide variety of cakes and other sweet treats. This included heart shaped biscuits, brownies, fairy cakes, chocolate chip cookies and decorated cupcakes. Many of the treats had heart-shaped sprinkles and decorations to celebrate the upcoming annual holiday. In addition to the sweet treats, beautiful beaded jewellery was also on offer.

Rosanna C, a pupil who enjoyed the cake sale said ‘ I loved how we were giving money towards charity whilst getting to enjoy delicious sweet treats!’

The House Charity Event was on Friday 9th February, and students had the opportunity to purchase a pack of love hearts for a friend for £1 or ask for a song from a teacher for £5. The donations went to Wildlife Aid Foundation, a charity which protects British Wildlife by rescuing animals in need, caring for them and then carefully releasing them back into an appropriate area of the wild.

The events were a lovely way to build up to Valentine’s Day by supporting valuable charities and spreading kindness and love throughout the community.
