Croydon is home to a lot of public transport, making it easier for everyone to get around.

But several railway stations that used to exist now don't anymore, with one reason being that the train line that went through them no longer operates.

Here are some of the lost railway stations in Croydon, and the train lines they were once part of.

Addiscombe

Addiscombe Railway Station, on Lower Addiscombe Road between Hastings Road and Grant Road, opened in 1864 and was part of Southern Railway.

Last train ran: May 31, 1997.

Bingham Road.

Bingham Road opened in 1906 and was part of the short-lived and unsuccessful Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway.

Last train ran: 1983.

Central Croydon

Central Croydon opened 1868 and was part of the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway.

Last train ran: 1890.

Coombe Road

Coombe Road opened in 1885 and was part of the Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway.

Last train ran: 1983.

Coulsdon North

Coulsdon North opened in 1899 and was part of Brighton Main Lane.

Purley Downs Golf Club Halt

Purley Downs Golf Club Halt opened in 1914 and was part of the South Eastern and Southern Railway.

Last train ran: 1927.

Selsdon

Selsdon opened in 1865 and was part of the Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway.

Last train ran: May 16, 1983.

Spencer Road Halt

Spencer Road Halt opened in 1906 and is another station on our list that was also part of the Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway.

Last train ran: March 15, 1915.

Waddon Marsh

Waddon Marsh, which stood between West Croydon and Beddington Lane Halt, opened in 1930 and was part of the former West Croydon to Wimbledon Line.

Last train ran: June 2, 1997.

Woodside

Woodside opened in 1871 and, as the name suggests, was part of the Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway.
