A man has received a hefty £658 fine for dropping a cigarette at Greenwich Starbucks.
Simon Ward, from Truro Road, Kent, was given the penalty by Bexley Magistrates' Court on December 12, 2023.
The incident took place on June 14, last year, at the Woolwich Road Starbucks in Greenwich.
Ward was caught dropping a cigarette at the coffee chain and leaving it behind.
Under Environmental Protection Act 1990, certain discarded smoking-related materials, such as cigarette ends and discarded chewing gum, are specifically stated to be items of litter.
Alongside a £220 fine, Ward was instructed to pay an £88 surcharge to fund victim services, and £350 in court costs.
This amounted to a total sum of £658.
