Police have issued a condition update after a teenager was injured in an Orpington moped crash.

Emergency services were called to Chipperfield Road at 11.17am on Thursday (December 28) to reports of a moped rider injured.

He was treated by ambulance crews at the scene for a leg injury and then taken to hospital for treatment.

It has been confirmed that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash, including to establish whether other vehicles were involved, are ongoing.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.17am yesterday (28 December) to reports of a road traffic collision in Chipperfield Road, Orpington.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an advanced paramedic to the scene.

“We treated a patient at the scene for a leg injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 11:20hrs on Thursday, 28 December to reports of a moped rider injured in Chipperfield Road, Orpington.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

“The rider, a male believed aged 17, was taken to hospital for treatment – condition awaits.

“Enquiries into the circumstances, including to establish whether any other vehicles were involved, are ongoing. Road closures remain in place.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD2138/28Dec.”
