An amusement arcade for adults in Kings Cross town centre has sought approval to unrestraint its opening hours.

A planning application was sent to Camden Council on Friday (November 24) by Family Leisure Euston Limited to allow Reel Time Amusements in Euston Road to stay open for 24 hours, seven days a week.

The site is situated directly opposite the busy junction of Kings Cross train station surrounded by other businesses.

A letter attached with the proposal claimed that a premise licence granted to the venue by Camden Council already permits it to operate for 24 hours.

The arcade, which has been open since 1979, had a condition imposed via a council decision in 1998 to operate only between 8am and 12pm.

Currently, the site trades from 8am to 2am every day, with a certificate of lawful use issued on August 31 confirming these timings following a complaint  in April about alleged unauthorised opening hours.

The applicant said that the opening time extension will ensure its customers can use their site without restriction of hours, and that it remains a sustainable business for many years.

The company, it added, intends to employ two full-time and part-time employees each if the application is approved and will continue its long-term investment in the premises.

A noise impact assessment was commissioned by the applicant to consider the proposal’s potential adverse impact on its surroundings.

The applicant said the exercise concluded that the noise impact from extended trading hours will be “adequately controlled”, with no loss of amenity to its neighbours.

The application is yet undecided by the council, but detailed planning documents can be found on council’s website: https://camdocs.camden.gov.uk/HPRMWebDrawer/PlanRec?q=recContainer:%222023/4956/P%22
