With Christmas just around the corner, the cold has returned and with it so has our holiday fatigue! It’s easy to just crawl into your warm blanket and watch a Christmas themed children’s film with your family. But why not spend this time bonding with your family over some seasonal games and activities like making and decorating gingerbread men, hanging ornaments on your Christmas tree, or even a game of ‘Christmas guess that tune’.

Now that’s not to say that you shouldn’t be crawling into your blankets to shelter from the cold, but the holiday season provides a unique opportunity to spend quality time with your family that you may not be able to do during the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives.

A boy named Jayden Bheekha said, ‘I love spending time with my family over Christmas because it gives me a chance to bond with them that I usually don’t get’.

Disconnecting yourself from your phone, and reconnecting with your family will strengthen bonds that will last for many years to come. Ask almost any adult and some of their fondest memories will be spending time with their family, especially during holiday times. There’s no better chance, so stop making excuses and spend some time with your family.

Having said this, how can you and your family spend time together this Christmas? You could always go with the traditional games such as playing ‘guess the Christmas tune’ or ‘Monopoly Christmas Edition’. You could also decorate your house with lights and set up a Christmas tree together. Of course, we can’t mention Christmas activities without mentioning decorating gingerbread men or making Christmas tree cupcakes.

With all these different ways to involve your family in some festive fun, the real question is how will you be spending your holiday to ensure you have a cheerful Christmas?
