Phones Made Easy is a wonderful course which empowers the elderly and strengthens their confidence with technology.

In September 2023, myself and my father (Nitesh Kachalia) ran a technology-based workshop for the elderly citizens of our community. We covered many important aspects of a mobile phone and its many functions which are beneficial in today’s world. Understanding the terms ‘mobile data’ and ‘cloud computing’ encourages a wider breadth of knowledge in how phones work and enables people to understand the processes of any device. Information like this can help the elderly in our community become familiar with these terms and that is exactly what our initiative strives to do. The members of our session really enjoyed the experience and how clearly everything was explained – most importantly, they felt confident in using their phones and tablets to complete tasks with efficiency. Teas and biscuits were also provided, which kept the members energised and helped their newfound learning settle well. Overall, it was an extremely successful course, and I am glad to have had a hand in helping the community and educating those who require support as we rapidly advance with new innovative ideas emerging every month.

There will be another beginner’s session taking place in the coming few weeks so please contact nitesh.kachalia@gmail.com if you are interested or if you know someone who would really benefit from this course!
