Mastering Organisation

To be organised is a very important skill, especially in today's fast-paced and busy world. Whether you are a student that ought to be focused, or going to work with an eagerness to succeed in your profession, the benefits to being organised are a major abundance! During this time many students are revising for GCSEs and organisation is a rewarding tool to use whilst undergoing piles and piles of work.

Today, we will explore five practical tips and tricks to help you stay organised…

Making To-do lists

If you have never heard of a to-do list, have you been living under a rock!? If you have then I think it is now time to start using them. A to-do list is a simple yet effective tool for staying organised. It is where you make a list including the things you wish to complete during the day etc and tick them off as you go. You have no idea how accomplished you would feel after gliding your hand with a pen across the task you've just completed.

Setting clear goals

As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry very insightfully said “A goal without a plan is just a wish”. To make a robust clear goal, it is important to start by defining your short-term and long-term goals. Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve provides a roadmap for your actions. Break down large goals into smaller, manageable tasks and prioritise them based on their importance and deadlines. Now, I dare you to grab the nearest paper to you and start by listing your goals!

Time management

We all know time is never on our side and we all say that “time flies when you’re having fun” BUT it's time to manage it. See what I did there? Anyways, such techniques like the pomodoro technique, (this is where you have alternating increments of work-break, this is usually done in the ratio 25:5) time blocking, and lastly the Eisenhower matrix, where you allocate 4 different sections to some things you want to do in that day.

Prioritise self-care

Lastly, don’t do too much work, this leads to BURNOUT! It's detrimental to you and even the reason you have started to organise in the first place. Being organised isn’t just about completing tasks, but it’s also about learning how to take care of yourself.

Staying organised is a continuous process that requires commitment and effort. It is time to vision your clear goals and structure your life in order for it to be fulfilling. Remember, it’s all worth it in the end!
