Are you aware of the products you are using and what is in them?

We all know lip balms are beloved and how easy they are too loose however I am here to tell you what you are actually applying to your lips. They take away dryness and sometimes provide UVA protection, not to mention a nice glossy look, but unfortunately not all lip balms can provide this due to the ingredients being used.

What are you using on your lips to moisturize?

I asked my friends what products they would typically buy if they were looking for a balm to use. The four recurring brands were Carmex, Vaseline, Nivea, and Burts Bees.

Here are the survey results that I conducted between a few friends:

Carmex 3

Nivea 3

Vaseline 5

 Burts Bees 3

What is actually in your lip balms?

Every time you lick your lips, or you begin to eat you could consume your toxic lip balm and lip gloss. There are two potential problems that arise once using lip balm. First, if it is a doubtless irritating ingredient, it can cause inflammation and loss of hydration. Lipsticks lip glosses and balms could contain lead cadmium, chromium, aluminum, and other toxic metals (some are at concerning levels potentially leading to health concerns). Did you know you should check if your lip products contain methanol which could cause dry and irritated lips?

Problems with your lip products

The incorrect lip balm can potentially lead to drier lips; constantly losing and rebuying lip products can become costly. By ensuring you purchase the right balms for you, you're preventing swelling allergic reactions, irritations, bruises, redness, pain, and tenderness. Rashes can easily turn into scabs or sores if they worsen however they can appear and feel precisely like chapped lips. Hopefully, this can prevent the mistreatment of your lips from harsh chemicals. These are some recommended products that can help:

Vaseline lip therapy

Glossier

Aquaphor

Burts Bees' lip balm

Will you be careful next time you purchase your lip products?
