From spooky ghost tours to pumpkin picking - we’ve rounded up some of the top things to see and do in south east London this Halloween season.

You don’t need to venture into Central London to find some fantastic, spooky days out this Halloween season.

Whether you want to take a ghost tour or visit some of the area's most haunted places, there’s plenty to do in south east London this month.

We’ve rounded up some of the things we think you should do in south east London this Halloween for some spook-tacular days out:

Explore Eltham Palace after dark

This October, English Heritage are giving people the chance to explore the historic setting of Eltham Palace after dark.

On selected nights in October visitors will be able to explore the palace, with parts dating back to Henry VIII's time, where you’ll be joined by historic storytellers who will tell you chilling ghost stories from the past.

Guests are advised to bring torches to light the way as you explore the darkened rooms and hallways of the palace.

Explore Chislehurst Caves

Located 30 metres underground, Chislehurst Caves is a great place to visit if you’re interested in local history or fancy hearing a ghost story or two.

Chislehurst Caves has a long history dating back hundreds of years and was previously used by the Romans and the Saxons.

Your dedicated guide will tour you through the caves, where you’ll see its history as a bomb shelter during the Blitz.

You will also see more ancient parts of the caves and explore places that were once used by the Druids, and hear ghost stories from your guide about the paranormal sightings in the caves over the years.

Tickets cost £8 for an adult, £6 for children and seniors, and under 3’s for 1p, for a tour lasting around 50 minutes.

Take a tour of Nunhead Cemetery

Originally built in 1840, Nunhead Cemetery is known as one of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries in London and it hosts some incredible architecture.

Free guided tours (with an optional donation) are also available on selected days, lasting around two hours, with the next planned tour taking place on October 29.

Go pumpkin picking at Hewitts Farm

Located in Orpington, Hewitts Farm is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a day out pumpkin picking.

Starting from October 1, visitors can visit the farm to choose from a variety of pumpkins in different colours, shapes and sizes.

No booking is necessary, you can simply turn up on the day.

Have a drink at one of south east London’s haunted pubs

Located on Chislehurst High Street, the Queen’s Head in Chislehurst is rumoured to be one of south east London’s haunted pubs.

According to its website, the pub is said to be haunted by not one, not two, but three ghosts who are said to frequent parts of the pub.

One ghost is said to haunt the cellar, with the ghost of a man sighted sitting in a rocking chair.

There have also been sightings of the ghost of a child who has been spotted on the stairs of the pub.
