Upminster residents are due to elect a new councillor tomorrow to represent them on Havering Council.

A by-election for the ward was announced last month following the death of Linda Hawthorn.

She presented Havering Residents Association in the region for 30 years, and was fondly remembered for her charitable work and dedication to local causes.

The deadlines for postal, proxy or postal proxy votes have now passed too.

This is the first year wherein a photo ID will be required to be carried to polling booths under new voting rules.
