A Camden pub has been revamped, renamed, and reopened as a "venue for everyone".

Brondes Age in Camden High Street is a sister venue to the popular Kilburn High Road bar, which takes its name from nearby Brondesbury station.

Both pubs have multiple screens showing major sporting events, an extensive line in beers, and a late night weekend license with DJs and dancing.

Brondes Age Camden replaces the Cobden Arms - named after the 19th Century politician and free trade campaigner - which closed in May after being a traditional Irish pub for three decades.

New owner Olivia Isbitt said: "We bought the pub in Kilburn in the middle of Covid, it needed a lot of love, so we gave it a 10 week refurbishment, opened in 2021, and it did really well. The community really value it.

"From the beginning I wanted to develop the Brondes Age brand. Camden was fairly close, and the next High Street I wanted to go for, and our customers go to both areas.

"The Cobden Arms had been run for 30 years by a really lovely Irish couple called Mary and Gerry McMahon. We are also an Irish family business and I knew I could go in, do a good refurbishment and refit with the same concept."

The works involved creating an exposed brickwork and industrial aesthetic, with a floor to ceiling bottle wall.

"It's open seven days a week, with large screens, 16 different lines of beer from around the world, a really good selection of spirits, and late nights on Friday and Saturday with DJs every weekend," added Olivia.

"The menu is nice fresh pub food, sandwiches, wings, burgers and wraps."

Olivia grew up in Wembley where dad Terry O'Sullivan ran The Wishing Well pub.

"We've been in pubs for such a long time. I remember stocking the bottle fridges, as children that was our job," says the mum-of-two.

Her father grew the business and Olivia, her dad, and sister now own 30 venues ranging from Irish pubs to cocktail and High street bars.

She says the cost of living crisis is "challenging for everyone," including publicans.

"Of course it's a risk, but all we can do is try and grow our business and show communities we are still here, we have invested in your High Street, and we want to be a community pub - a venue for everyone.

"Even if you just come in for one pint a week, we bring a good offering, hopefully they will come and like what we have got."
