A bakery has gone viral on social media with a giant croissant that can feed eight people.

Two TikTok videos showcasing the gargantuan pastry available at Philippe Conticini's two London branches in Camden and South Kensington have garnered more than 3.2 million and 780,000 views.

Footage shows a customer dipping the enormous croissant into a cup of coffee, demonstrating the sheer scale of the flaky bake.

In fact, almost every video shows people dipping theirs into hot drinks, so this may even be the correct etiquette, although some purists online were horrified.

According to Hungry Artist, the giant croissant is capable of easily feeding eight people.

One user responded "Eight people? I would eat that on my own," while another wrote "Eight people! THAT WILL FEED MEEEEEE"

Initially, the TikToker was worried it might be doughy inside, but they found the inside unexpectedly fluffy.

Hungry Artist encouraged their followers to visit the patisserie, but warned them that anyone ordering the outsize pastries would become the centre of attention.

Another downside was the mess created by consuming such a large pastry - probably around eight times that created by a normal one.

Another video showcasing the South Kensington offering has scooped up 3.2 million views.

Pretty Little London shows their order filling a tray, before breaking to the coffee cup shot, and then somebody ripping into the pastry as if it were a whale.

Some TikTok viewers expressed interest in the croissant, with one person even stating that the £25 price tag was worth it.

The bakery also offers a pain au chocolat equivalent priced at £28, although it has not reached the same level of fame on TikTok.

There is also a jumbo-sized almond croissant with a generous filling available for £35, as mentioned by TikTok user @hungry_artist_.

The mastermind behind the gargantuan pastries is Philippe Conticini.

Born near Paris, Conticini trained as a chef in France before bringing his expertise to the UK.

After working in various Michelin-starred restaurants, he has established several bakeries in the country.

Conticini is known for his innovative culinary ideas, such as being the first to serve dishes and desserts vertically in glasses rather than on plates.

In 2012, he showcased his culinary skills on the French version of The Great British Bake Off, called Le Meilleur Pâtissier.
